Household fleas can be an occasional problem for people with pets. A recent study by the Ohio State University has found that vacuum cleaners kill fleas in the home every bit as effectively as flea-killing insecticides.

You may still need to treat Fluffy or Fido for the fleas they carry, but this research shows there is little, if any benefit to purchasing and applying household chemicals to kill fleas in carpets, furniture etc. Just grab your vacuum cleaner instead.
