Programmable Thermostat
Buy and install a programmable thermostat. This is especially valuable if your home is unoccupied during most of each day.
During the winter, program it to reduce the temperature to about 60 degrees after bed time and when no one is home. Set it to raise the temperature again 30 minutes before you wake up or before anyone arrives home.
During the summer, reverse the settings to allow the temperature to increase about 20 degrees when no one is home. Set it to lower the temperature again 30 minutes before you get home.
Bottom Line:
Save $110.00 per year.*
(*Individual results will vary. Calculations based on $600 average annual heating and cooling costs reduced by 18.3% by moderating the home temperature by about 11 degrees.)
