Smoke Fewer Cigarettes
The health problems associated with smoking are well known. Poor health results in higher health care costs. It should be obvious that smoking cigarettes carries a high financial price tag.
If you can quit smoking altogether, the health benefits of doing so are priceless. Some people, however, find that the cold-turkey approach does not work for them. Without looking in greater detail at the total health care costs incurred by smokers, let us focus in on the plain and simple cost of the cigarettes themselves and suggest that people who are unable or unwilling to quit smoking completely can still benefit financially from reducing the number of cigarettes they smoke.
Try cutting back by smoking one less cigarette each day. If you can achieve that successfully, then when you are ready, you can reduce your consumption by one more cigarette each day, and so on. It may take a lot less time than you think to reach a point where you quit smoking altogether. But for now, just try smoking one less cigarette per day and see how it goes.
Bottom Line:
Save $82.18 per year.*
(*Individual results will vary. Calculations based on $4.50 total cost per pack of 20 cigarettes and a 1-cigarette per day reduction for 365.25 days.)
