Use Power-Saver Mode   Email this article to a friend.  Add to Favorites.         Save on Delicious.

Check your electronic devices for energy saving modes and functions and, if present, use them. Chances are you won't notice the difference. Even if you do, the difference probably won't seem as significant as your savings.

Television sets are good targets for this technique, especially if you watch too much TV yourself or have children who often forget to turn it off when they get tired of watching it. Models with energy savings features publish different savings figures, but something in the 10-20% range is likely.

Bottom Line:

Save about $4.00 per year.*
(*Individual results will vary. Calculations based on approximate 17% savings while using power-saver mode on television that would otherwise use .2 kWh/hour for 3 hours a day, 7 days a week 344 days per year (to account for vacation periods) and a cost of $.11 per kWh.)
